Frequently Asked Questions
-
I provide personalised care for a range of animals, including dogs, cats, guinea pigs, chickens, goats, and other companion pets. Every pet is unique, so each visit is tailored to their individual needs, routine, and personality.
-
Yes. A complimentary 30-minute Meet & Greet is required before your first service. This allows us to meet, discuss your pet’s routine, personality, and care needs, go through access arrangements, and give your pet the opportunity to become familiar with me before care begins.
-
Dogs are walked at carefully selected, pre-scouted locations throughout the Perth Hills. Walk locations are chosen based on your location, accessibility, and your dog’s individual needs, providing a safe and enriching environment to explore.
-
No. Hills Happy Paws specialises in adventure walks at carefully selected, pre-scouted locations throughout the Perth Hills, rather than neighbourhood walks. These quieter, low-traffic areas provide a more controlled and enriching environment, helping to reduce common distractions such as busy roads, unfamiliar dogs, and other hazards. While neighbourhood walks are often perfectly suitable when owners are with their own dogs, my priority is providing the safest and most enjoyable experience possible while your dog is in my care.
If your dog simply needs a toilet break, some fresh air, or a chance to stretch their legs close to home, a Home Visit may be a better option. During a visit, I can provide supervised time in the backyard or around your property, along with playtime, enrichment, and companionship tailored to your pet’s needs.
-
Not at this stage. I currently offer individual dog walks, or walks for dogs from the same household where suitable. This allows each outing to be tailored to your dog's personality, energy levels, and individual needs while giving them my full attention. As Hills Happy Paws grows, I may introduce small group walks for suitable, social dogs.
-
Yes, depending on your dog’s individual needs. During the Meet & Greet, we’ll discuss your dog’s behaviour, triggers, comfort levels, and any specific requirements so I can determine the safest and most suitable approach for their care.
For dog walks, I carefully consider each dog’s personality and needs, including their comfort around other dogs, new environments, and different distractions. Individual walks allow me to provide a more tailored experience and give your dog the space and support they need.
-
Yes. I provide care for pets of all ages, from playful puppies to gentle senior pets. Visits and walks are tailored to suit each pet’s age, energy levels, mobility, and individual needs, ensuring they receive the right level of attention, enrichment, and support.
-
No, I don’t stay overnight in clients’ homes. However, I can provide multiple home visits throughout the day, tailored to your pet’s routine and care needs, so they can remain happy and comfortable in their own home.
-
No, I don’t offer boarding at my home. I believe many pets are happiest and most comfortable in their own familiar environment, so I provide personalised home visits where I can care for your pets in their own space and help maintain their usual routine.
-
Yes. Hills Happy Paws is fully insured, including Public Liability insurance and cover for pets while they’re in my care, giving you added peace of mind every time you book.
-
Absolutely! After every visit and walk, I’ll send you an update along with photos, so you can see how your pet is doing and have peace of mind while you’re away.
-
Yes. Please provide everything your pet will need during their care, including food, treats, medication, leads, harnesses, toys, and any other essentials. Every pet has different preferences, routines, and hygiene requirements, so I don’t provide these items.
-
Yes. I’m happy to administer medication where appropriate, provided clear instructions are given before the booking.
-
Absolutely! Whether you need weekly dog walks, regular home visits while you’re at work, or care while you’re away, services can be tailored to suit your routine and your pet’s needs.
-
The more notice you can provide, the better, as availability can vary depending on existing bookings. For regular clients, I can often accommodate bookings with at least 24 hours’ notice where availability allows. For holiday care or longer bookings, I recommend booking as early as possible to help secure your preferred dates.
